Posted on October 25, 2018October 26, 2018 in Appalachian Trail, Utralight backpacking Testing the homemade backpack. My new backpack was finally done . I did a quick 26 mile overnight on the Standing Indian Loop (my 6th lifetime loop, and my second this year) for its first trip. Sewed from an $83 kit sold by Ray and Jenny Jardine. 9.9oz, 2400 cubic inches, size large shoulder straps. On our backyard trail in Watkinsville, GA. Photo: Amber Ignatius. For some initial thoughts on this pack and a few additional photos, please see my Gear Review. Beautiful drive into the Standing Indian Campground, the start/finish of the hike. Fall on the Kimsey Creek Trail up to Standing Indian Mountain. A windy, cold, and stunning sunset on Standing Indian Mountain, 5,499 feet. You can see the wind gust pushing my tarp to the left as I set up camp. Beech Gap, 4,460 feet. More tarp photos here. Appalachian high elevation ridgewalking. A view while ascending Albert Mountain, 5,200 feet. Another from our backyard trail in Georgia. For some initial thoughts on this pack and a few additional photos, please see my Gear Review. Happy Trails, y’all! Share this:TwitterFacebookLike Loading... Related
